A New Day …

Filed under: Microsoft, Office, Vista — tim CARMICHAEL @ 10:34 pm

Well today is the day.  A new day. No, not another Star Wars episode,  but the rather glitzy monicker for the cumulative Microsoft launches going on today.  Here in the UK its being referred to under the EVO (Exchange, Vista, Office) tag.  http://msnewday.com/

Bond is Back!

Filed under: Movies — tim CARMICHAEL @ 11:47 pm

We went to see Casino Royale, and for once got some good seats, and i thought it was a great movie.  I think the non-stop start contributes to a really positive feeling about the whole movie which perhaps isnt quite so exciting.  Even though there were no gadgets in this opening scene it was possibly the best Bond scene yet. Well worth seeing!

Track of the week

This is my fav track this week.  jamelia - beware of the dog. Love that double drumming a la Marilyn Manson, combined with Depeche Mode.

Can a train get lost ?

Filed under: General, Travel — tim CARMICHAEL @ 10:00 pm

Surprisingly the answer is Yes!  I was going to Tunbridge Wells today and to stops after I got on the train doors ceased to function, so no-one could get on or off.  Eventually the guard informed us that the train was lost and didnt know which station it was at.  This is important because it uses this knowledge of the station to determine which doors to open depending on the platform length.  After 5 minutes the driver managed to overide it somehow and get the doors open, otherwisee they were suggesting we would have to go to the maintenance depot to get it fixed,  great!

Blog is back

Filed under: General — tim CARMICHAEL @ 10:56 pm

Well after the debacle with blogware losing and finding and losing my blog,  I’ve moved it to WordPress to see if thats better.  what was most frustrating about the loss of my blog was all the stuff I had on it.  Because I was editing and posting directly in a web page I was never saving a copy of my work.  So, this time I’m going to edit offline and then post … I’m going to start with Word 2007 and its publishing feature and see how that goes.

 Anyway, I’m back!
